THE SQUAD
Приєднався 29 лют 2012
THE SQUAD is about rowing.
The series followed the GB men's heavyweight sweep team in the run up to the 2012 Summer Games, focusing on The Four (M4-), The Eight (M8+) and The Pair (M2-), plus the coaching team.
Each of the heavyweight men's crews won an Olympic medal at London 2012: gold for The Four, and bronze for The Eight and The Pair. Add the lightweight men and the women's squads, and the GB Rowing Team enjoyed their most successful Olympic Regatta since 1908, with four gold, two silver and three bronze.

The M2- Final from Eton Dorney. Summary from GB Rowing Team Performance Director David Tanner. (7/16)
Great rower with and outstanding tecnique.
Nice
Long story short the British Stroke is applying legs and back together as opposed to legs THEN back. I thought they'd mentioned that but these people are British. Who else would use the word "de-complicate" for "simplify"? ;-)
Pretty much all rowing technique uses the legs and back together at some stage. You don't see any rower driving the legs completely flat and then leaning back. What differentiates styles is the point in the drive at which the back begins to open. For example US crews often open their back very early in the stroke (Washington).
britts also have a very agressive finish
Outstanding series! Massively motivational to a newcomer to rowing (aged 39!!)
Ei eu sou remador e tô criando um canal pra divulgar este esporte (remo) que é tão desvalorizado no Brasil vão lá ver no meu canal
Please make some more videos or another series on the lead up to the next Olympics
Please make some more videos please!!!!!!
Tom ransley need to see a dentist !!
Great video! Just wondering about the rowing expertise of the producers of this piece because at 1.22 the footage is of a 2x not a 2-.
Not this year, but we're hoping to do some more in the future.
Will the uploader keep upload new videos such as this year's training and stuff etc?
Greg Searle & Tom Ransley finished 6th in the final heat (I think they were pretty chuffed to make the final at all). Full results via GB Rowing website.
what happened to greg searle and tom ramsley in their heat?
samtwine42 wound down early to conserve energy
That's a fair point, but we would point out that Phelan Hill is a key part of the GB Rowing Squad, which is why he features regularly throughout the series. Phelan also filmed the opening sequence of the Alex Gregory profile.
Thanks! We hope to have some more content up by the end of the season.
Holy shitballs this series is awesome!
Rain Poem. Trying to track down more details!
Great job! Love the little daddy and son conversation!
"He did" Lol !
love the picture of hodgy and tom james in the background.. these guys are inspirational!
very good video i like it
There are 27 Rowing Clubs in Belgium. Check them out! And Belgium's Tim Maeyens (Olympic best time at London 2012) is a brilliant sculler.
to bad that the belgian rowing team hasnt all of this good stuff :(
Thanks adamthelad. They are a remarkable group of individuals, brilliantly managed by David Tanner and his coaching team. (I hope that comes across in the series). It'll be fascinating to see what the 2013 crews will look like. Will the pair remain the number 3 boat, or is there an awesome combination out there waiting to be uncovered?
Fantastic series! Thank you for making the series, it was a great insight into how these athletes prepare for a life defining moment. I was surprised at how relaxed and down-to-earth they are. So proud of what they achieved. Thank you
does anyone know the name of the musicused during the heats? :)
Wow, they really showed that at the olympics
Very glad you've enjoyed the series. Ahead of the Games, you never really know how GB Rowing Team will shape up, but we were delighted and proud they've done so well (4 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). And the three crews we focused on all made the podium at Eton Dorney. As you say, 'really inspirational'.
Started rowing about a month ago. I love it more than anything I've ever done before. Really proud of Team GB at the 2012 Olympics, especially the rowers. Thanks for this series, it is really inspirational. Makes me want to train hard to get to 2016 Olympics in Rio, If that's even possible as a new-comer! haha
Thanks for the kinds words. Much appreciated. Talking and listening to these guys has certainly given us a great insight into the sport, and the enormous hard work/sacrifice demanded by Olympic rowers of all nations.
great and very under appreciated series, i really wish that your videos would reach out to other people as well, im from america and i found this very inspiring. Good luck in the Finals!
:)
Yes, the order of THE PAIR and THE EIGHT is the wrong way around. Something to do with the uploading process. Amateur error! They're still our most popular features though, with THE FOUR and HOW TO WIN coming up on the outside.
my favorite boat for sure
the picture of the dutch is just brutal. Pretty old picture though
what on earth happend to the last pairs, they finish a minute off every heat.
Bart Lukkes They weren’t going to make the final so they decided to conserve energy for the repechage
